Nowadays, rapid consumption of fossil fuels, environment contamination and puncture of the ozone layer are the results of unconscious exploitation of natural resources due to developing technology and increasing population.

We thought that some works must have been done to preserve our limited natural resources and to prevent contamination.

Researches demonstrate that nearly 60% of electricity and 15% of water are consumed by buildings in which we live. Formation of greenhouse gas by buildings is approximately 30%.

Energy is essence of life and required for all means of life circle, yet we need to understand the fact that we are going to face a big environment crisis unless we change the unconscious exploitation of energy and natural resources.

We strongly believed urgent precautions should have been taken on the matter to stop contamination and to save the earth. The one and the only way to have a clean world and renewable energy sources was to create awareness in society. Educating pupils and having ecologically literate individuals seemed to be the best way for us as teachers.

The aims of our project were to explain the importance of using green energy to our students and create awareness about it in schools and related stake holders like municipalities, companies etc., to raise the consciousness of active citizenship, to provide our students an opportunity to communicate and to work with the students in the partner schools on this subject using art and culture

So, how were we going to educate pupils and make them environment conscious, ecologically literate individuals? There were a Green House and recycling plant in partner city which belonged to metropolitan municipality. The Green House with solar panels, rain harvesting system, green roof, special isolation and smart light fixtures, stands as a magnificent sample of renewable energy and environment consciousness. There was also a seminar room with a capacity of 60 people. We were planning to organize seminars for the pupils to learn the concept of clean energy and environment consciousness.

By the project with the active participation of the students, we planned to organize seminars about renewable energy and 3R (reduce, reuse, recycle)which have vital effect on being environment conscious, also exhibitions at schools or shopping malls with the drawings by pupils about green energy , 3R and environment. Local authorities of education were invited to the events to increase the awareness and reach larger mass. The same activity would be done in the partner countries and mutual exhibitions would be held. The seminars and exhibitions were recorded on DVD, then multiplied and distributed to increase the impact of the project. The innovation and creativity inside the students were promoted and revealed by this project.

In addition; we  prepared a web site for the partners to share the activities, project calendar and announcements. We provided recycling boxes in our schools and inform the students that recycling materials was a solution to prevent the contamination and thus saving up.

At the end of our project, we anticipated local community and our pupils would create awareness about green energy and ways to save the world. Making meetings at the partner schools, participation of our students and teachers to the mobility and forming willingness to learn foreign language  helped reach the goal.
