Empowering Educators Through Play Teaching Sustainability with card game-'Climate Call‘
The mobility featuring the expert from Sweden-Karl Sterne Isaksson, who introduced and conducted training on the "Climate Call" card game, was a remarkable and impactful event within our Erasmus program. This interactive and innovative session focused on vital global challenges, such as environmental protection, CO2 emissions, and their harmful effects on the planet. Through the structured gameplay of "Climate Call," participants explored the multifaceted issues surrounding CO2 emissions, gaining insight into how different modes of transportation contribute varying amounts of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere.
The game's design, which combines strategy with real-world data, offered an engaging way for teachers and students to understand the broader implications of human activities on climate change. It encouraged critical thinking and practical problem-solving, making the learning process dynamic and memorable. The expert’s ability to guide participants through the rules and strategies of the game ensured that everyone—from novices to those with prior knowledge—could actively participate and benefit from the session.
In addition to the card game, the training incorporated diverse activities such as quizzes and questionnaires. These activities were tailored to reinforce the information shared during the session, ensuring that the knowledge gained was both comprehensive and retained. They sparked discussions and debates, allowing participants to voice their thoughts, clarify doubts, and deepen their understanding of ecological and sustainability concepts. These tools not only assessed the participants' current knowledge but also highlighted areas where they could grow, fostering a sense of curiosity and a commitment to lifelong learning about sustainability.
The impact of this mobility extended beyond the training room. Teachers gained valuable resources and methodologies to integrate ecological topics into their curricula, making lessons more engaging and relatable for students. For students, the experience was equally transformative, as it allowed them to see the tangible consequences of their choices and actions on the environment. The session emphasized the importance of individual and collective responsibility in combating climate change and protecting the planet for future generations.
Moreover, the training fostered collaboration and dialogue between participants from different backgrounds, creating a shared understanding of global challenges and the necessity of working together to address them. It was not just a session of learning but a call to action, inspiring participants to take practical steps toward a more sustainable future.
Overall, the mobility with the Swedish expert was a true highlight of our Erasmus program. It successfully combined knowledge transfer with practical applications, leaving a lasting impression on all participants. By equipping our teachers and students with new tools and insights, it contributed significantly to our collective mission of promoting ecological literacy and sustainable practices.
