Erasmus+ Project
“Beyond Plastic: Pathways to a Sustainable Tomorrow”

Students from Germany (Uetze), the Netherlands (Assen), and Lithuania (Kaunas) have officially launched a new Erasmus+ project titled “Beyond Plastic: Pathways to a Sustainable Tomorrow”, which began this year and will continue until next year.
The project unites young people and teachers from the three partner schools around one shared goal — to raise awareness about the global plastic pollution problem and inspire creative, sustainable solutions for a cleaner planet.
Project Aims and Goals
The main aims of the project are to:
-
increase students’ understanding of environmental issues and the impact of plastic waste;
-
encourage responsible consumption and sustainable lifestyle choices;
-
develop 21st-century competences, such as creativity, teamwork, digital skills, and environmental literacy;
-
strengthen European collaboration and intercultural communication among young people.
Throughout the project, students will take part in a variety of international and local activities, workshops, and challenges that promote sustainable living, creativity, and critical thinking.
Logo Competition
At the beginning of the project, each partner school organized a logo design competition to create the project’s visual identity. The winning logo — which will now represent the project across all activities and materials — was chosen through a collaborative online voting process among partner schools.
🏆 The winner of the logo competition became a student from Germany, whose creative design perfectly captured the project’s message of moving beyond plastic toward a more sustainable tomorrow.
Activities Ahead
Over the coming months, students and teachers from all three countries will continue working on local sustainability initiatives, eco-campaigns, creative workshops, and educational exchanges. Through these experiences, participants will gain deeper knowledge about environmental protection and develop practical skills to make real, positive changes in their schools and communities.
The project will conclude next year, but the lessons learned and friendships formed will continue to inspire students to take action for a greener and more responsible future.
Erasmus+ Students Celebrate Creativity and Sustainability Through Logo Design and Video Projects
As part of our Erasmus+ project “Sustainable Wellness in a Green Planet”, students from President Valdas Adamkus Gymnasium took on an exciting creative challenge: designing the official project logo. The activity aimed not only to spark students’ artistic talents but also to deepen their understanding of sustainability, ecological awareness, and the connection between personal well-being and the environment.
The unique brief for the logo required participants to represent three countries involved in the project—Italy, Spain, and Lithuania—while conveying the values of harmony with nature, physical activity, and holistic wellness. Students enthusiastically explored different symbols, colors, and designs that could capture these themes. The collaborative process encouraged teamwork, intercultural dialogue, and critical thinking about how visual elements can communicate important environmental and health messages.
After several rounds of evaluation, the class selected the most compelling design that best embodied the project’s spirit: a logo that visually unites the three countries and highlights the balance between human well-being and the natural world. This logo will now become a symbol of the Erasmus+ project, representing the shared commitment of participating schools to sustainable living and healthy lifestyles.
In addition to the logo design, students also participated in a local activity: creating a short video presenting President Valdas Adamkus Gymnasium and its unique approach to sustainability and ecology. The video showcases how the school integrates eco-friendly practices into daily life, from green classrooms and energy-saving initiatives to outdoor learning and community projects. Through this activity, students practiced digital literacy, storytelling, and teamwork while reflecting on how education can promote environmental responsibility.
Both activities—logo design and video creation—demonstrate the project’s focus on creativity, environmental awareness, and personal well-being. They allow students to express their understanding of sustainability while celebrating the cultural diversity of the Erasmus+ partnership.
Stay tuned as we continue to explore innovative ways to live sustainably, stay active, and care for our planet—one creative project at a time!

A Week of Change: Students Explore Healthy Living and Sustainability in SW+GP project
Students from grades 6 and 7 actively participated in the Erasmus+ project “SUSTAINABLE WELLNESS IN A GREEN PLANET (SW+GP)”, taking on a personal challenge to improve their daily habits for both health and sustainability. The activity encouraged them to think critically about how their choices affect their well-being and the environment, helping them to develop responsible habits that can have a long-lasting impact.
Each student set a personal goal at the beginning of the week and committed to following it consistently. Some focused on responsible waste management, practicing careful sorting and recycling of materials. Others prioritized physical activity, making a conscious effort to move more and exercise daily. Several students adopted healthier eating habits, while a few were mindful of saving electricity and water in their daily routines.
By actively participating in this challenge, students not only improved their personal routines but also became more aware of how small, everyday actions can contribute to a healthier planet. They learned to reflect on their choices, build self-discipline, and understand the connection between personal wellness and environmental sustainability.
At the end of the week, students prepared and presented their own reflections, discussing their goals, achievements, challenges, and personal discoveries. These presentations highlighted how the activity helped them grow as individuals and reinforced the value of experiential learning in promoting both health and environmental awareness. Although only a few of the original presentations have been preserved, the remaining slides include photos of students engaging in their activities, and screenshots can be taken to capture their experiences. Further activities and results will be shared later.
This initiative demonstrates the practical benefits of integrating sustainability and wellness into daily life, showing that even young students can take meaningful steps toward healthier habits and a greener planet. It is part of the ongoing accreditation work of the 6th and 7th graders, showcasing their commitment to personal growth, social responsibility, and environmental stewardship.
Students Explore Sustainability and Creativity in Erasmus+ Project “SUSTAINABLE WELLNESS IN A GREEN PLANET (SW+GP)”
The Erasmus+ project “SUSTAINABLE WELLNESS IN A GREEN PLANET (SW+GP)” continues to engage 6th and 7th graders in creative and practical activities that promote healthy habits, environmental awareness, and sustainable thinking.
In one of the recent activities, students designed posters on the theme of “Sustainable School”. Working individually, they explored ways to make their school more environmentally friendly, analyzing current challenges and brainstorming innovative solutions. Students considered strategies for saving energy and water, improving waste sorting, reducing food waste, and creating greener spaces. Through this activity, they developed critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a sense of responsibility, while reflecting on how small, practical ideas can benefit the entire school community.
In another hands-on workshop, students constructed mini windmills powered by solar energy. As soon as sunlight reached the solar panels, the windmills began to spin, providing a tangible demonstration of renewable energy principles. This practical exercise allowed students to understand how solar energy works in real life, see sustainable solutions in action, and experience firsthand that environmentally friendly choices can be both beneficial and exciting. During the workshop, students also enhanced their creativity, patience, teamwork, and technical skills, while connecting theoretical knowledge with practical application.
Both activities illustrate the educational value of combining sustainability with experiential learning. By engaging in creative problem-solving and hands-on experimentation, students gain a deeper awareness of environmental issues, develop habits that support personal wellness, and learn that even small actions can contribute to a greener planet. The Erasmus+ project continues to inspire young learners to think responsibly, act creatively, and embrace sustainable solutions in their everyday lives.
